TONSAI Privacy Policy

TONSAI (“we,” “us,” the “app”) helps you track and care for bonsai trees. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with.

1. Information we collect

• Account: your email address (via Firebase Authentication) when you create an account. You may also use the app without an account, with reduced features.
• Your content: trees, photos, notes, care logs, garden/journal entries, finances, reminders, and categories you add.
• Location: if you grant permission, your city and hardiness zone (and approximate coordinates) to tailor care timing and weather.
• Usage: counts of AI requests (to enforce fair-use limits) and basic app activity.
• Support: messages you send through the in-app Contact form.

2. How we use it

To provide and sync your collection, deliver care reminders and local weather, power AI species identification and health diagnosis, enforce usage limits, manage subscriptions, and respond to support requests.

3. AI features

When you use Identify or Diagnose, the photo you select (and, for diagnosis, related tree details) is sent to our cloud service and to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude), to generate results. Images are processed to produce your result and are not used to train AI models. Please don’t submit photos containing other people or sensitive information.

4. Subscriptions & payments

TONSAI Pro is an auto-renewable subscription sold through the Apple App Store (and Google Play on Android). We never receive or store your payment card details — Apple or Google processes payment. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status and entitlements, associated with your account to unlock Pro features.

5. Service providers

• Google Firebase — authentication, database, storage, and cloud functions for your account and synced collection.
• Anthropic — AI image/text processing for Identify and Diagnose.
• RevenueCat — subscription and entitlement management.
• Apple / Google — in-app purchase processing.
• Open-Meteo — weather and geocoding (approximate coordinates sent to retrieve forecasts).

We do not sell your personal information, and the app contains no advertising or third-party tracking SDKs.

6. Data storage & retention

Your collection is stored on your device and, when signed in, backed up to Firebase under your account. We retain data while your account is active.

7. Deleting your account & data

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time in the app: Settings → Delete Account. This removes your synced data from our cloud storage. Local data is removed when you uninstall the app. For any other privacy or data request, use Contact Us in the app.

8. Your choices

Edit or delete your content in-app; revoke location, photo, or notification permissions in your device Settings; manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings.

9. Children

TONSAI is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

10. Changes

We may update this policy; we’ll revise the effective date above when we do.
